Kubota Mini Excavator Overview
Kubota began operations in 1890 as a foundry, specializing in the production of cast metal products. In the early 1970s, the company successfully started the Kubota Tractor Corporation, which brought manufacturing operations to the United States. The company has since expanded their product lineup to include a wide variety of agriculture equipment, construction equipment, vending machines, engines and much more.
In 2010, the company created a new slogan, "For Earth, For Life." Kubota is dedicated to manufacturing products that help contribute to the environmental protection of the earth. They are also dedicated to global business contribution to help support human life. The Kubota lineup of mini excavators conform to EPA regulations, are fuel-efficient, and are equipped with other features that have a positive impact on the environment.
Kubota mini excavator specifications
The difference between the two model series of the Kubota mini excavator lineup is simple: The KX series of excavators have conventional tail swing, while the U series have zero tail swing configuration. The chart below highlights the range of specifications between the two model series.
Clean running Kubota engine
The Kubota engine is a clean-running, low-vibration engine that conforms to Tier IV emissions standards. Although the engine is equipped with superior horsepower, it runs so quiet that it can be used nearly any location, at nearly any time of day without any major disturbance to nearby residents.
The low-vibration feature allows smooth operation of the machine, and it has sophisticated fuel-efficiency features as well.
Variable width undercarriage
The variable width undercarriage of the Kubota mini excavator is designed to allow the machine to fit through tight doorways and gates, and to maneuver between obstacles and confined spaces. Once the obstacles have been passed, the undercarriage can be expanded back to the original position in order to start the machine's operations.
The undercarriage can be reduced to the size of 700 mm (2' 4") by simply pulling a lever. Blades can be easily changed by removing one pin.
Two speed travel
Mini excavators typically work around obstacles and in confined spaces, so speed is not typically desired. However, on large job sites, an excavator may need to get from one location to another. It can be driven slowly or loaded onto a trailer in order to get to the other location.
Kubota has changed all that with a variable speed feature. A special "hi-speed" pedal allows the operator to increase to a speed that is currently faster than any other mini excavator in its class.
Foldable ROPS frame
The Rollover Protective Structure (ROPS) provides a durable exterior which provides high standards of operator safety. When transporting or storing the machine, the ROPS can be folded down for a more efficient transport and storage space.
